Job Summary
Supports high school students in career and college readiness through advising, programming, and community partnerships. Coordinates work-based learning experiences, facilitates postsecondary planning, and assists with career development activities. Essential duties include coordinating college, technical school, and career exploration activities for grades 9–12; implementing the career advisory program with platforms like Xello in collaboration with CCPS, WDB, and CSM; advising students on apprenticeships, postsecondary planning, SAT/ACT/Common App support; proctoring CTE Interest Surveys; placing students in internships and work-based learning; analyzing career data to guide advisement; collaborating with counselors, ELL, and SPED staff; teaching skills such as time management, study habits, interview preparation, professional writing, and digital literacy; maintaining student interaction through sessions and office hours; establishing business/community partnerships; researching financial aid and scholarship opportunities; coordinating Senior Portfolio Interview and Senior Awards Night; maintaining records for graduation materials; staying current with workforce trends; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human relations, social work, psychology, education, or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience in a related field preferred
- Valid Maryland Class C Driver’s License
- Ability to earn Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certification within two years or other approved credential
- Availability for evening and weekend events related to financial aid and scholarships
- Proficiency in a language other than English preferred; Spanish desired
