Job Summary
Provide direct patient care including bathing, dressing, and feeding residents while administering prescribed medications in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Verify patient identity, document administration details, and monitor responses to detect unexpected reactions. Participate in shift change meetings to communicate resident status and report changes in medical conditions to physicians and families. Maintain secure medication inventory, restock supplies, and ensure all drugs are ordered and prepared correctly by working with physicians and the pharmacy. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including resident assistants, third-party care providers, and community leadership. This role requires current Level 1 Medication Aide certification, BLS certification, and experience in a senior care community.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must have current state Level 1 Medication Aide certification
- Ability to read, interpret, and clearly follow directives
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to be flexible
- Skill in multi-tasking
- Respect for the principles of resident rights and confidentiality
- Capacity to see both near and far distances
Desired Qualifications
- 2 – 4 years' experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Insulin certification preferred
- Experience in a senior care community
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible
