Job Summary
Kurdish Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support the Department of Justice Linguistic Support Services. Responsibilities include translating, transcribing, and interpreting a wide range of material (legal, medical, financial, regulatory, etc.) from Kurdish to English and vice versa, maintaining fidelity to tone and terminology, and applying strict confidentiality. The role requires five years of language experience with ILR 4 or equivalent, strong English editing skills, U.S. citizenship, and experience working with law enforcement or legal departments. Proficiency with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio) and the ability to handle sensitive material is essential. Remote work is available, with consideration for National Capital Region and CONUS locations; some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language
- Superior English and editing skills
- ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Knowledge of legal, diplomatic, and casual register in both English and the foreign language
- Translate faithfully without changes, omissions, or additions; preserve tone and register
- Proficient in using CAT tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
