Job Summary
Kurdish Linguist sought to support current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements across YSG and TU. Responsibilities may include interpretation (in-person and virtual), translation of written/electronic/audio/video materials, document review/editing, and foreign language instruction in classroom or virtual settings. The role is an evergreen requisition for multiple language-support roles across the portfolio, with candidates potentially considered for a range of language services opportunities. Candidates should have working proficiency in English (ILR level 2+ for CAT I/II; level 3+ for CAT III), be able to produce idiomatic translations, conduct consecutive interpretation, understand and respect local culture, and be willing to travel and work in diverse and high-pressure environments. Clearance requirements vary by category, and the position may support government contracts. Travel may be required. The posting is remote-capable with locations in CONUS; no specific client or project is tied to a single location.
Required Qualifications
- Must be qualified/certified at one of the following categories: Category I, II, or III linguist qualifications as specified (ILR levels, security vetting, and U.S. citizenship requirements as applicable)
- English proficiency ILR level 2+ for CAT I/II; ILR level 3+ for CAT III
- Ability to provide idiomatic translations and accurate interpretation in English and foreign language
- Ability to conduct consecutive interpretation and maintain tone/register
- Experience providing foreign language instruction to adults
- Familiarity with local culture and customs
- Willingness to live/work in harsh environments and travel as required
- Team-oriented, able to work under high pressure and stress
- Speak English and foreign language fluently
- Interpret in a manner that is accurate without changes or omissions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Security clearance as specified (CAT I/II/III requirements)
