Job Summary
Residential Cook roles at KU Dining across Ekdahl Dining Center, North College Café, and South Dining Commons. Responsibilities include preparing hot and cold menu items per standardized recipes, operating grills, ovens, and pizza equipment, assembling meals, restocking service lines, and maintaining HACCP/ServSafe standards. Maintain proper storage, labeling, and temperature control; keep a clean workstation with a “clean as you go” approach. Collaborate with coworkers to support service during peak periods and provide friendly, professional service to students and guests. Requirements: high school diploma or GED, at least one year of food service prep experience, at least two years in a high-volume commercial kitchen, ServSafe certification, ability to perform physical tasks (stooping, bending, extensive walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds). Full-time role with weekend shift; flexible scheduling; no late nights. Location-specific sites include Ekdahl Dining Center, North College Café, and South Dining Commons. Reports to location-specific supervisors; mission-driven to deliver quality dining experiences for KU community.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- At least one year of food service preparation experience
- At least two years of experience in a high-volume, commercial kitchen
- ServSafe certification
