Job Summary
Krio Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor provides live virtual distance-learning instruction in Krio and related regional/cultural content, focusing on listening, reading, and speaking proficiency (ILR 0+ to 3) across modalities, developing lesson plans, reviewing assignments, and collaborating with managers to address curriculum gaps. The role requires delivering virtual instruction, tailoring materials to adult learners, assessing progress, maintaining a professional virtual learning environment, and meeting English-language qualifications and DL/OPI-based proficiency standards. Desired qualifications include experience with online platforms (CL-150, Canvas, Moodle, Adobe Connect) and a Bachelor's Degree. Location is Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, with part-time scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- Educated native speaker or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience in virtual foreign language instruction
- Understanding of cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience creating blended learning lessons and tailoring materials
- Access to computer with Windows, webcam, headset with microphone, cellular phone or smart tablet, and high-speed internet
- Formal study/evaluation requirements for English: ILR level 2+ or higher or TOEFL/ETC as specified
