Job Summary

Design and facilitate three integrated write shops in Nairobi, Turkana, and Garissa to train IRC staff on impact documentation and evidence generation. Conduct desk reviews of METAL data and reports, then lead field visits to collect primary data including focus groups and interviews for validation. Support sector teams to define learning questions and guide the development of diverse KML products such as technical briefs, policy briefs, human interest stories, and short documentaries. Lead post-write shop consolidation workshops to refine drafts against evidence standards and finalize publication-ready materials with safeguarding and data protection compliance. Deliver an inception report, evidence mapping, and a final completion summary outlining lessons learned and recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Communications, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, Journalism or a related field
  • A minimum of 5–7 years' demonstrated experience in knowledge management, impact documentation, technical/report writing, or communications for humanitarian or development organizations
  • Proven track record of producing high quality knowledge products such as case/human interest stories, technical and policy briefs, photobooks and short documentaries
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based programming, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) systems, and results/outcome frameworks
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills, with experience designing and leading participatory workshops (write shops) for multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and spoken English; strong editing and storytelling skills
  • Sound knowledge of ethics, informed consent, safeguarding standards and the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, including experience handling sensitive/identifiable client information and content involving minors
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Nairobi, Turkana, Garissa and Tana River as required by the assignment

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree (preferred)
  • Experience working in Kenya, including ASAL and/or refugee-hosting contexts (e.g. Turkana, Garissa, Tana River)
  • Prior experience working with IRC or similar international NGOs
