Job Summary
Oversee daily kitchen operations and provide leadership during shifts for Purdue Northwest’s Hammond campus. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking menu items per recipes, maintaining quality and presentation, training and mentoring kitchen staff on food preparation and safety, executing catering events, managing menu information and Jamix system updates, monitoring inventory and waste, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. The role supports coordination with culinary leadership to uphold high standards, manage vendor relationships and inventory, and contribute to menu planning and event execution. Requires 3+ years in a professional kitchen, HS diploma/GED, ServSafe (or equivalent), and a valid driver’s license; leadership and experience with menu-management systems are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED required
- 3+ years of experience in a professional kitchen
- Experience with menu management systems preferred
- Culinary school experience preferred
- Leadership experience preferred
- Food Safety certificate (ServSafe or equivalent)
- Valid Driver’s License for Campus Catering Vehicle
