Job Summary
Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure high-quality meal service, food safety compliance, and sanitation standards while supervising chefs, program participants, and volunteers. Coordinate menu planning, buffet-style service, and inventory management using donated and purchased resources, maintaining accurate logs for time/temperature and waste tracking. Lead onboarding and training for new staff and program participants, manage equipment repairs, and partner with Volunteer Services to deliver productive prep and service shifts. Participate in weekly staff meetings, implement corrective actions from internal inspections, and model organizational values. Full-time role with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday flexibility; requires ServSafe certification, three years of commercial kitchen experience, and alignment with the organization's Christian mission.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Culinary Arts preferred, or equivalent experience in food production and service
- ServSafe certified (or willingness to become a certified trainer)
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible commercial kitchen experience, including cooking, menu planning, and team supervision
- Experience with volunteers and diverse populations preferred
- Strong cooking ability for small- and large-scale production
- Effective leadership and coaching
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and a positive team culture
- Food industry standards, buffet-style service, inventory management, food safety, and sanitation best practices
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Full-time (40 hours/week) with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Active Driver's License and ability to meet DRM insurability standards
- Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct
