Job Summary
Supervise daily kitchen operations and meal preparation for inmates and staff while assigning, training, and overseeing all kitchen workers. Monitor food inventory, storage, and supply orders to minimize waste, and maintain accurate records of food production, temperatures, cleaning schedules, and inmate labor logs. Enforce security protocols to prevent misuse of tools and supplies, and conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and health code compliance. Collaborate with facility staff to ensure dietary requirements are met and provide feedback and discipline in accordance with facility rules. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a background in food service or correctional settings. HAACP and ServSafe certifications are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of food service or kitchen supervisory experience
- Must pass a background check
- Meet all facility security clearance requirements
- Ability to lead and instruct individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
Desired Qualifications
- Culinary or food service certification
- Correctional setting experience
- HAACP certification
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., ServSafe Certification)
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices
- Business English with good grammatical and spelling skills
- Ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
