Job Summary
Maintain clean and sanitary deli equipment, accurately package and label food for retail sale, and prepare fresh, high-quality food to meet department goals. Assist Deli Orderer with receiving and stocking duties, rotate items by date, and proofread printed labels for accuracy. Greet customers, offer product samples, and report quality issues or equipment problems to management immediately. Perform periodic inventory counts, monitor cooler and freezer temperatures, and adhere to all safety and sanitation procedures. Work full-time hours with a starting wage of $18.57 per hour, increasing to $23.06 after 14,560 hours worked.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Ability to read product labels
- Hearing required to converse with customers and co-workers
- Ability to safely operate department equipment
- Ability to carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, or 50 pounds if working a stocking shift
- Ability to work in a cold environment (cooler/freezer) and to handle cold food products on a regular basis
- Ability to work in warmer temperatures and humid conditions
- Understands and retains directions
- Basic reading/writing level
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers
- Use basic problem-solving techniques
- Organize tasks and set priorities
- Perform and/or direct multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to interact with the public in a positive and friendly manner
- Work cooperatively with co-workers
- Maintain composure under all circumstances
- Ability to work in shared spaces with coworkers
Desired Qualifications
- High School education or GED preferred, but not required
- Experience stocking or working in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Ability to operate professional kitchen equipment
