Job Summary
Measure, prepare, and assemble ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting fruits and vegetables, cutting and seasoning meats, and mixing items for dishes. Label products with expiration dates, display high-quality preparation, and maintain food safety standards while following recipes and presentation specifications. Maintain accurate food inventories, restock items throughout the shift, and adhere to company policies for dating, wrapping, rotating, and storing food products. Set up, clean, sanitize, and organize the food prep area, cheese room, and kitchen before, during, and after every shift. Operate commercial equipment including scales and packaging machinery safely. Work full or part time hours including weekends from 10:00am to 10:00pm year-round. Assist the Sous Chef in supporting our Farmstand's daily fresh-packed salads, side dishes, entrees, soups, smoothies, and juices using local and organic ingredients.
Required Qualifications
- Open to applicants under 18 years old, provided it is legally allowed for the job and location
- Must know how to properly and safely operate commercial equipment including scales and packaging machinery
- Must be 18 and trained in order to use certain equipment
- Knowledgeable about basic food handling skills
- Knowledgeable about simple mathematical calculations (reading scale)
- Presents self in a highly professional manner to customers and co-workers
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. several times per shift, lift these heavy loads to high shelves, coolers, freezers
- Applicants must be flexible, adaptable and able to work weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Commercial kitchen experience a plus, but not a requirement
- ServeSafe certificate preferred but not required
