Job Summary

Clean and sanitize physical spaces, equipment, and potwashing areas while monitoring temperatures and sanitizer levels. Move product in and out of production following HACCP procedures, assist with food preparation, and launder, fold, and distribute uniforms and linens. Accurately fill out sanitation logs, maintain organized workstations, recycle products, and comply with all regulatory health and safety standards. Lift 50 lbs routinely and work a flexible schedule of 24 hours per week from Sunday through Saturday. Represent Harvard Dining Services professionally to students, faculty, and guests in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with the English language (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Neat appearance and compliance with proper dress code as designated by HUDS
  • Some proficiency with kitchen tools and equipment without restrictions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with a diverse set of staff, management and guests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced diverse environment
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. without restrictions
  • Minimum of six months work experience
  • Ability to comply with State of Massachusetts and Dining Services' Food Employee Illness Policy
  • Ability to represent HUDS to students, faculty, staff and guests in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to work in compliance with all regulatory agencies including Harvard Environmental Health and Safety regulations
  • Ability to accurately fill out sanitation and temperature logs and food service records
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and respectfully with a diverse set of staff, management team and guests
  • Ability to recycle products per policy and procedure
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to clean and sanitize physical space and equipment
  • Ability to move product into and out from production as required following HACCP procedures
  • Ability to assist with food preparation duties
  • Ability to clean and sanitize potwashing/dish area, walls, floors and counters
  • Ability to fill, empty, operate and perform regular maintenance on pot washing machine or manually wash pots as required
  • Ability to monitor and record temperatures and sanitizer concentration in manual wash sink and machines to insure safe operation
  • Ability to return all cleaned equipment and utensils to point of service
  • Ability to launder, fold and distribute uniforms, towels, tablecloths and napkins
  • Ability to maintain clean and organized laundry area
  • Ability to operate washing machines and dryers according to instructions
  • Ability to keep laundry equipment clean and in good order
  • Ability to leave workstation clean and re-stocked
  • Ability to work at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location

Desired Qualifications

  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Relevant knife skills
  • Previous experience working in a University environment preferred
