Job Summary
Beatrice Public School Lunch Program Floater is a full-time role rotating between Beatrice elementary and high schools to support kitchen operations. The position serves as a flexible team member who can work in all areas of the school kitchen, including food preparation, serving students, cashier/POS operation, dishwashing, and compliance with USDA regulations and district policies. Responsibilities include learning and performing all kitchen positions, offering coverage for absences, assisting with inventory and storage, maintaining cleanliness, supporting special meal accommodations, and collaborating with kitchen staff, administration, and teachers. Must be adaptable, dependable, and willing to learn all aspects of school nutrition operations; background checks and district requirements apply; driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel between schools.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service experience preferred (school nutrition experience a plus)
- Strong reliability, flexibility, and adaptability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
- Ability and willingness to learn all aspects of school nutrition operations
- Must pass background check and meet district employment requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for travel between schools
