Job Summary
Kitchen Assistant in Cedar Circle Farm's farm kitchen for May–December, with 20-40 hours/week. Responsibilities include following recipes to prepare foods for the farmstand, café, and meal programs; prepping, cooking, packaging meals (including cold salads and grab-and-go items); preparing, packaging, and labeling signature products and maintaining inventory; processing freshly harvested fruits and vegetables (washing, chopping, storage); preserving produce through pickling, canning, and freezing; assisting with weekly/monthly menu planning; tracking inventory of prepared foods and ingredients; coordinating with the Kitchen Manager on production schedules and ingredient needs; meeting deadlines for farmstand offerings and meal programs; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace; following food safety protocols; supporting other kitchen tasks and team members as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Ability to follow recipes and directions with attention to detail
- Strong time management skills and ability to stay on task
- Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification
- Receptive to constructive feedback and able to adapt to changing tasks and priorities
- Professional kitchen experience is preferred, but not required
- Willingness to learn and maintain a positive attitude
