Job Summary
Guide student learning toward curriculum goals by planning instruction, selecting materials, and adapting methods to diverse learning styles. Motivate students to achieve their highest potential through classroom activities, feedback, and high expectations while maintaining order and a climate of mutual respect. Build strong relationships with guardians to generate confidence and promote responsible citizenship through firm, fair, and consistent practices. Share responsibility for marketing the Academy in the community, developing policies affecting instruction, and utilizing technology for record-keeping and communication. Assume other responsibilities assigned by the Principal and conduct yourself according to professional ethical principles.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsements in appropriate grade and subject levels, meeting the requirements of the Michigan Department of Education and Federal guidelines
- Bachelor's degree
- Actively working or willingness to actively work through an alternative pathway, which includes passing the MTTC test(s) for endorsements in appropriate grade and subject levels
Desired Qualifications
- Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in the area of primary instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level
- Previous experience teaching the age levels and subject areas of the specific teaching position
- Teaching credentials appropriate for the level of students being taught
- Able to use technology as an instructional tool in the classroom, as a means of analyzing academic achievement data, and as a tool to aid effective communications
- Excellent verbal and written expression using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Strong interpersonal skills
