Job Summary

Assist the lead teacher with executing instruction, evaluating effectiveness, and providing one-on-one academic and behavioral support. Monitor student safety, well-being, and attitudes while maintaining classroom discipline, recording time-outs, and preventing crises. Support daily operations by managing standardized records, grading papers, checking attendance, and performing general housekeeping and clerical duties. Feed and toilet students as needed, and maintain an orderly environment. Operate audiovisual equipment and supplies while ensuring student independence.

  • Must be able to communicate via telephone
  • Must be able to use various equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, equipment for children with special needs
  • Must exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors and shades of paint
  • Must be able to rapidly and accurately coordinate hands and eyes in office equipment
  • Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination
  • Must be able to utilize mathematical formulas, add and subtract; and use decimals and percentages
  • Must be able to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape
  • Must be able to handle a variety of office machines
  • Must be able to speak and signal people to convey or exchange information
  • Must be able to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists
  • Must be able to prepare correspondence, simple words, documents, instructional materials
  • Must be able to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
  • Must be able to record and deliver information, explain procedures
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words
