Kindergarten Instructional Assistant I

Tutor individuals or small groups of students by reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed by the teacher while maintaining records of student progress. Prepare and organize lessons, administer and score tests, and assist in determining English proficiency of identified students. Monitor and report student behavior, check work as necessary, and provide emotional support and general guidance. Perform routine clerical duties such as preparing instructional materials, operating copy machines, and maintaining attendance records. Direct group activities, assist in monitoring lunchroom and playground activities, and support emergency drills and field trips. Contact parents of absent students and make home visits as necessary. Assure the health and safety of students by following approved practices and regulations. Participate in instructional team meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
