Job Summary
Supplement the kindergarten teacher by grading student work, preparing instructional materials, and leading one-on-one or small group learning activities. Monitor student behavior, manage discipline, and provide push-in and pull-out intervention support. Supervise students during recess, lunch, emergency drills, field trips, and pick-up/drop-off. Substitute for the classroom teacher when needed. Spend the majority of the day standing while occasionally sitting, walking, kneeling, or lifting up to 25 pounds. Work full-time, 8:00am to 4:30pm, from October 2026 to March 2027 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School.
Required Qualifications
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic
- Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy
- 18 years or older
- Proof of high school diploma or GED
- Clear criminal background check
- Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom
- Positive professional references and recommendations
- Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom
- Frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating
- Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks
- Walk on both even and uneven surfaces
- Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending
- Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity
- Trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class
- Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom
- Lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms
- Be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment
- Maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events
- Conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops
