Job Summary
Full-time Kindergarten Associate Teacher at The Dalton School (Manhattan) for the 2026-2027 school year. The Associate Teacher supports the Head Teacher with daily classroom operations, lesson preparation and delivery of small group or whole-class lessons, and documentation of student needs. Responsibilities include planning/leading lessons, assessing students, attending curriculum nights and meetings, contributing to curricular planning and classroom management discussions, writing trimester progress reports, supervising lunch/recess/dismissal, and performing other duties. The program offers mentorship and a two-year (potentially three) path in the First Program. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree with ongoing graduate coursework or professional development, strong writing/communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to engage with diverse learners. Strong preference for those with Lower School experience, technology proficiency, and bilingual English/Spanish speakers. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Location: New York, NY (91st Street Building).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Enrollment in or progress toward an advanced degree in Elementary or Early Education strongly preferred
- Previous experience with Lower School students strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency with technology
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong organizational and executive functioning skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Commitment to ongoing learning about inclusion and cultural competency
- Bilingual English/Spanish speakers of special interest
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship as stated in application instructions
