Kids Zone Coordinator

Job Summary

Conduct hands-on leadership and administrative support for Kids Zone and related services across the Kernersville and Stokes Family YMCA regions. Manage staffing, recruitment, training, and performance for Kids Zone staff, including coaching, development, and removal of underperformers. Recruit, hire, and train Kids Zone employees while ensuring payroll compliance and budget targets are met. Deliver an exceptional member experience by establishing a warm, welcoming environment and promoting engaging curriculum that enables children to play, learn, and make friends. Collaborate with MX, WX, and Youth Development leaders to ensure Kids Zone offerings work synergistically with other programming. Drive incremental growth in visits and survey feedback, including NPS scores, while responding to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Work a split shift (AM 7:45–11:15, PM 4:45–8:15) with 75% regional presence, requiring travel between locations and adherence to child safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lead by influence
  • Supervisory and/or YMCA experience
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including nights and weekends
  • Dependable emotional maturity and intelligence
  • High levels of stamina, motivation, and self-direction
  • Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must be able to utilize technology including the MS Office suite and basic computing, to more advanced applications such as web-based applications and customer relationship management software
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform all above functions
  • Acceptance, storage, and dispensing of supplies, may exceed 20lbs
  • Working directly with children in a safe manner and in accordance with all YMCA of NWNC guidelines on child safety
  • 75% of coordinator hours are working in ratio in the assigned region
  • Ability to directly work with and support all levels of staff is a must
  • Ability to gather support from a wide array of staff to effectively execute on a common goal
  • Ability to work well with others, lead, and follow in the continual improvements within both the Member Experience team and the Y itself

Desired Qualifications

  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/ Branch Leader certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Teachable and proactively gains business acumen and expertise in the area of focus
  • Quick learner and flexible in the execution of business processes and tactics
  • Energetic, devoted, mission driven, team oriented individual
  • Exemplifies a proactive, hands-on approach, as well as a professional work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills
