Key Account Manager (Payments/B2B)

Job Summary
Own and grow a portfolio of high-value commercial accounts by developing plans to increase payment volume, revenue, and contribution margin. Act as a trusted commercial advisor to senior decision-makers, identifying opportunities to expand share of wallet across CardUp's payment solutions and driving cross-sell initiatives. Monitor account performance to identify churn risks, execute recovery plans for declining customers, and proactively manage portfolio health through regular reviews. Identify new business opportunities via referrals and strategic networks, then lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and onboarding while partnering with Sales and Partnerships teams. Analyze account data to make sound recommendations on pricing and strategy, maintaining accurate pipeline and forecasting records.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years of experience in account management, business development or sales
- experience in payments, fintech, banking, financial services or B2B technology
- Proven track record of managing and growing a high-value commercial portfolio
- Strong commercial mindset with experience delivering against revenue, sales or volume targets
- Experience working with SME, mid-market or enterprise customers
- Excellent communication, negotiation and objection-handling skills
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, including business owners, Finance Directors and CFOs
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn account data into clear commercial actions
- Highly proactive, resilient and results-oriented
- Strong ownership mindset—you identify problems and opportunities and take action rather than waiting to be told
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
