Job Summary

Administer child care programs at designated YMCA sites by creating lesson plans, maintaining site records, and ensuring state licensure compliance. Supervise program participants to maintain safety and appropriate staff-to-child ratios while implementing age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports including attendance and CACFP submissions, and maintain files for policies, enrollment, and staff records. Provide program coverage as needed, arrange substitutes, and administer first aid if required. Ensure facility cleaning, communicate with parents on concerns, and support the Site Director in meeting licensing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Certification in CPR at the level of Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer
  • Basic First Aid
  • Emergency Oxygen Administration
  • determined safety training
  • Minimum 2 years working in a licensed childcare program
  • Minimum 1 years' experience with all ODJFS licensing procedures and Step Up to Quality requirements
  • Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect
  • Ability to drive from site to site throughout Northeast Ohio
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to administer the program, fiscal, and personnel policies of the association
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations
  • Excellent time management, customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle high volume of work
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite with excellent Excel skills
  • Experience with comparable payroll/HRIS system
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to work outside and on occasion encounter inclement weather
  • Must be able to perform work in a classroom setting with moderate levels of noise
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently communicate with students
  • Must be able to frequently walk, stoop, bend, crouch, and kneel to child's eye level
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Must be able to maintain safety of children by appropriately supervising program participants at all times
  • Must be able to implement age-appropriate techniques relative to the behavior management of children
  • Must be able to plan, develop, and implement appropriate lesson plans and activities
  • Must be able to complete and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports in a timely manner
  • Must be able to maintain a file system that will include all policies, school year schedules, ODJFS child day care rules, child enrollment information and staff files
  • Must be able to provide coverage of program as needed and arrange for substitute instructors
  • Must be able to notify supervisor of any parent concerns or unsafe conditions at center
  • Must be able to be responsible for administering First Aid to children/staff if required
  • Must be able to ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of space/facility
  • Must be able to develop and maintain positive communication with parents
  • Must be able to develop and implement family activities/events
  • Must be able to represent YMCA by developing positive working relationships with program participants and parents
  • Must be able to follow YMCA and state quality guidelines in operating site
  • Must be able to support the Site Director in ensuring all licensing requirements are followed
  • Must be able to complete Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form
  • Must be able to call children protective services (696-Kids)
  • Must be able to notify immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department
  • Must be able to complete associated- determined safety training required within 30 days of hire

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience WORKING with diverse populations preferred
  • Minimum 1-year experience working with Microsoft office products
  • Minimum 1 years' experience with all ODJFS licensing procedures and Step Up to Quality requirements
  • Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others
  • experience with comparable payroll/HRIS system preference for ADP, Kronos, or Ceridian
