Job Summary
Assist teachers with instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms. Work schedule follows the school year with shifts typically from 7:15am to 3:30pm. Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana. Must have a high school diploma or GED and be flexible to meet changing student needs; strong tutorial, office, computer, and communication skills; knowledge of child guidance principles; willingness to supervise students in community settings; and participate in department training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Flexible to meet changing needs of students
- Strong tutorial skills
- Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents
- Positive attitude and ability to complete tasks independently
- Strong office, computer, and oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
- Willingness to supervise students in community settings
- Participation in training provided by the Special Education Department
