Job Summary
Assist teachers with instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms. Support students with strong tutorial skills and knowledge of child guidance principles, including supervision in community settings. Maintain flexibility to meet changing student needs while communicating effectively with students, staff, and parents. Complete tasks independently and participate in training provided by the Special Education Department. Work shifts between 7:15am and 3:30pm during the school year, with benefits including paid holidays, PTO, and a public pension for roles exceeding 5.5 hours daily.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience working with students with special needs
- Flexibility to meet the changing needs of students
- Strong tutorial skills
- Ability to relate well with students, staff and parents
- Strong desire to see young people be successful
- Positive attitude
- Ability to complete tasks independently
- Strong office, computer, and oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
- Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques
- Willingness to supervise students in community settings
- Willingness to participate in training provided by the Special Education Department
- Availability for shifts between 7:15am and 3:30pm
- Ability to work during the school year
