Job Summary
The Privatization and Government Finance Policy Analyst role supports Reason Foundation's policy research on revenue, spending, and debt for state and local governments, as well as federal spending and revenue. The Associate program emphasizes experiential learning with Stand Together Fellowships, collaboration with policy teams, quantitative analysis, and producing well-written policy analyses and commentaries. The position involves virtual collaboration with Reason teams, occasional travel to conferences, and potential in-office work in Los Angeles or Washington, DC, with options for virtual work anywhere in the US. Ideal candidates are quantitatively oriented, resourceful, and capable of communicating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills
- Working knowledge of or ability to rapidly learn data analysis and data visualization applications such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau
- Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively convey complex concepts to non-experts
- Working knowledge of state legislative processes and practices
- Curiosity and self-motivation to learn new things and tackle difficult technical problems you may have never dealt with before
- General alignment with Reason Foundation’s mission to advance a free society by developing, applying, and promoting libertarian principles
