Job Summary

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, conflicts, and employee relations issues. Investigate and assist in resolving complaints, grievances, and conflicts in a fair, timely, and confidential manner while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable legislation. Network with supervisors to address emerging issues, support the fair application of performance and disciplinary processes, and advise on policy interpretation and best practices. Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation where appropriate, maintain confidential records, and monitor trends to recommend policy improvements. Provide status updates to the Human Resources Manager and assist in developing workplace conduct policies. Support the incorporation of indigenous traditional values and teachings into employee relations approaches, including traditional conflict resolution methods.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of two years' related experience in employee relations, labour relations, or human resources
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Proficient use of various computers and software such as Microsoft 365
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and relationship building
  • Sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Teamwork, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Understanding of, and respect for, indigenous traditional values, teachings and practices
  • Ability to incorporate indigenous traditional values, teachings and practices into employee relations approaches

Desired Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or related designation
  • Knowledge of employee relations best practices, conflict resolution and investigation processes, and applicable employment legislation
  • Working knowledge of the Blackfoot language and culture
