Job Summary
Armed K9 Handler for the K9 Detection program. Responsibilities include maintaining and certifying canines, conducting searches, and handling the canine in an armed security environment. Requires weekend/holiday/night/overnight availability, physical fitness, driving, and adherence to firearms and safety protocols. Must have canine handler certifications (single or dual), 3+ years of law enforcement or military canine handling experience, willingness to reside with the canine and provide suitable housing, and complete mandatory training and certifications at Andy Frain prescribed courses. Location noted as Glen Riddle Lima, PA; role entails full-time, on-site duties with the canine. This role requires strict compliance with policy and procedures and involves interacting with clients and law enforcement agencies as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Single purpose canine handler certificate or ability to obtain prior to commencing work
- Dual purpose canine handler certificate or ability to obtain prior to commencing work
- Three (3) or more years law enforcement canine handling experience, or three (3) or more years military canine handling experience, or similarly documented substantially similar experience
- Expressed willingness to remain with the program for at least three years
- Expressed willingness to care for and house the canine at the handler’s residence in accord with company policies
- Provide a secure outdoor area for the canine that conforms to company requirements
- Possess a strong desire to work with canines and train the animal
- Demonstrate physical fitness abilities related to lifting, carrying, climbing, and balancing with canine and equipment
- Must maintain annual canine certifications
- Must have valid driver’s licenses and clear driving record for last three years
- Must maintain company vehicle and be able to perform searches as directed by management
- Must comply with firearms-related instructions, including carrying approved firearms
