Job Summary
K9 Handler for Andy Frain Services' armed person-borne K9 detection program. Responsibilities include incident/emergency response, standby duty, and client demonstrations (weekends, holidays, nights, overnights). Must maintain canine certifications, health and welfare of the canine, training and utilization records, and vehicle management. Requires valid driver’s licenses, a clean driving record, and adherence to firearms policy. Housing/residence must accommodate a canine with secure outdoor area; housing inspected prior to selection. Prior experience in law enforcement or military canine handling (3+ years) and possession or ability to obtain single and dual-purpose canine handler certificates. Willingness to remain with program for at least three years and to house/train the canine at the handler’s residence per company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Single purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
- Dual purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
- Three (3) or more years law enforcement canine handling experience, or three (3) or more years military canine handling experience or similarly documented substantially similar experience acquired elsewhere
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 90 pounds including assigned K9 for 50 feet
- Must be able to pass firearms training and department qualification for carrying on duty
