K9 Handler

K9 Handler for armed personnel borne canine detection program. Full-time role in the Atlanta, GA area requiring certifications for Single and Dual Purpose canine handling, with 3+ years of law enforcement or military canine handling experience. Duties include obtaining/maintaining required certifications, maintaining health and welfare of the assigned canine, keeping training/utilization records, ensuring annual canine certifications, vehicle upkeep, and conducting searches as directed by management at approved sites. Must be physically fit to lift/carry up to 90 pounds with the canine, walk extended periods, climb/squat/kneel as needed, run a mile, and wear prescribed gear. Applicants should be willing to reside at a suitable residence with the canine, provide a secure outdoor area, and commit to remaining in the program for at least three years. Prior to selection, housing for the canine must be inspected and meet policy requirements, including appropriate signage and kennel facilities. Must comply with firearms-related duties and training, and pass all assessment tools to authorize armed work. The role includes incident/emergency response duty, standby duty, and client demonstrations, which may occur on weekends, holidays, nights, and overnights.
