Job Summary
Armed K9 Handler responsible for the health, welfare, and training of assigned police/military canines; maintain training and certifications, conduct searches at designated sites, and ensure compliance with firearms and canines policies. Requires possession or ability to obtain single and dual-purpose canine handler certificates, 3+ years of LE or military canine handling experience, and fitness to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 90 pounds, running, climbing, kneeling). Role includes incident/emergency response duties, weekend/holiday/night/overnight availability, and residence kennel requirements with secure outdoor area for the canine.
Required Qualifications
- Single purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
- Dual purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
- Three (3) or more years law enforcement canine handling experience, or three (3) or more years military canine handling experience or similarly documented substantially similar experience acquired elsewhere
