Job Summary

Armed K9 Handler responsible for securing assigned canine, maintaining health and welfare, and performing searches at Andy Frain client sites. Role requires certification (single or dual purpose), 3+ years of law enforcement or military canine handling experience, and a willingness to commit to at least three years with the program. Duties include keeping training and utilization records, maintaining annual canine certifications, managing the handler’s vehicle and gear, conducting searches as directed by management at designated sites, and adhering to firearms training and policy requirements. Candidate must reside at a suitable residence with a secure outdoor area and kennel, provide living quarters for the canine, and be able to lift up to 90 pounds, walk extended periods, and meet physical fitness and cardiopulmonary demands for duty. The position requires availability for incident/emergency response, standby duty, client demonstrations, weekends, holidays, nights, and overnights in the Atlanta, GA area.

Required Qualifications

  • Single purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
  • Dual purpose canine handler certificate or possess the ability to obtain same prior to commencing work
  • Three (3) or more years law enforcement canine handling experience, or three (3) or more years military canine handling experience or similarly documented substantially similar experience
  • Expressed willingness to remain with the program for at least three years
  • Expressed willingness to care for and house the canine at the handler’s residence in accord with all Andy Frain policies and procedures
  • Provide a secure outdoor area for the canine that conforms to Andy Frain policies
  • Possess a strong desire to work with canines and a willingness to care for and train the animal
  • Demonstrate physical fitness abilities related to the tasks of canine handling: lifting, carrying, climbing, and balancing while bearing the combined weight of the canine and equipment
  • Must maintain annual canine certifications
  • Must have valid driver’s licenses, and clear driving record for last three years
  • Must maintain company assigned vehicle
  • Must strictly comply with and maintain current instruction, certifications and licensing required in the jurisdiction
  • Must be able to wear prescribed gear and pass firearms training
  • Residence considerations for housing a canine and kennel inspection
