Job Summary
K9 Handler for armed gun-detection program seeking a highly experienced canine handler. Responsibilities include maintaining certifications, handling and welfare of a assigned canine, training and maintaining training records, conducting searches, and performing armed security duties at Andy Frain sites. Candidates must have 3+ years in law enforcement or military canine handling, hold or obtain single and dual purpose canine handler certificates, be physically fit for lifting and mobilizing a canine and equipment, possess a valid driver’s license, and comply with firearms training and policy. The role involves incident/emergency response, standby duty, client demonstrations, and potential weekend/holiday/night duties, with residence housing requirements for the canine and adherence to policy on kennel setup and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Single purpose canine handler certificate or ability to obtain before starting
- Dual purpose canine handler certificate or ability to obtain before starting
- Three (3) or more years law enforcement or military canine handling experience
- Willingness to remain with the program for at least three years
- Ability to house and care for canine at handler's residence per policy
- Secure outdoor area for canine
- Strong desire to work with canines and train them
- Physical ability to lift/carry heavy loads and perform tasks with canine
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to maintain required canine certifications
- Compliance with firearms handling and safety requirements
- Residency considerations for housing canine and kennel
- Ability to pass firearms and department qualification tests
