Job Summary
K3 Teacher Assistant with Bus Driver duties in Johnston County Public Schools. Supports teachers through academic assistance, group and individualized instruction, and classroom materials preparation. Proctors tests, tracks attendance, enters health and behavior data, and helps with discipline and student progress reports. Classroom duties include organizing furnishings, preparing visual aids, and distributing materials. Will also serve as Bus Driver/Sub Bus Driver/Bus Monitor as required, maintaining state bus driver certification. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Promotes positive behavior and supports school values; collaborates as a team member and contributes to continuous quality improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems and follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Gives group instruction as prescribed by teacher; provides individualized instruction
- Arranges classroom furnishings and equipment; prepares visual aids and duplicates materials
- Proctor during testing; scores student papers as instructed by teacher
- Reports student progress to teacher
- Supervises students in classroom and other locations
- Promotes student self-esteem; teaches citizenship, social skills, and respect for others
- Disciplining misbehavior through approved methods
- Communicates with parents, staff, and community leaders
