Job Summary
Conduct academic assistance by giving group and individualized instruction, checking student work, and reporting progress to teachers. Arrange classroom equipment, prepare visual aids, and serve as a proctor during testing while scoring papers and managing instructional materials. Monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds by supervising activities, resolving conflicts, and enforcing approved discipline methods. Report attendance, file health and behavior data, and communicate with parents and staff. Drive or monitor school buses as required by the principal, maintaining all state-mandated bus driver certifications. Perform physical duties including lifting, kneeling, and repetitive motion while supporting continuous quality improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
- Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times
