Job Summary

K'iche' Translator to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) with Translation, Interpretation, Transcription and other Linguistic Support Services (LSS). The role involves translating documents and media, including court and deposition interpretation, across domains such as medical, legal, financial, and technical content. Materials may be highly sensitive and require strict confidentiality. Responsibilities include translating written/electronic materials and video/audio content, maintaining tone and register, preserving accuracy without changes, and applying specialized vocabulary in English and the target language. Candidate must have ILR 3 minimum or equivalent, at least two years of translation experience, spend at least three of the last five years in the U.S., at least one year in a law enforcement/legal setting, and hold U.S. citizenship, naturalization, or green card with SSN. Clearance level: Active Public Trust or higher. Location options include Remote, National Capital Region (NCR), and various CONUS locations, with travel potential.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in translation.
  • Qualifying scores ILR 3 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests.
  • Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S. (does not have to be consecutive).
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen; Naturalized citizen; or Green Card holder with a Social Security Number.
