Job Summary
Plan and prepare weekly lesson plans for 5th grade Math and Science. Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students using appropriate developmental practices. Maintain accurate records including class lists, attendance, health records, and report cards. Develop and implement proper classroom management techniques while supplying substitutes with adequate plans and materials. Keep the classroom attractive and report unsafe conditions promptly. Evaluate student progress continually to address individual differences and cooperate with school-based and central office personnel. Encourage parents to be informed of student progress and needs.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- A teacher must be able to effectively communicate English both orally and in writing
- Must have ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Must be able to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting 10 pounds is sometimes required
- Must be able to operate classroom equipment
- Must be able to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Must be able to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Must keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to comply with state and parish regulations
- Must be able to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Must be able to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
- To receive the target content stipend, the teacher must hold a Louisiana Level 1+ Teaching Certificate or Out of State Certification in content area
- A target school is a school that has over 90% of economically disadvantaged students and/or the English Language Learners exceed 30% of the student population
- The target content areas are: Special Education (All grade levels), Math (grades 6-12), Physics, Chemistry and English Second Language (ESL) (All grade levels)
