Job Summary
Conduct daily instruction in 6th-grade science and social studies using varied techniques to promote student growth. Maintain accurate records including attendance, health files, and report cards while planning weekly lessons and managing classroom behavior. Coordinate with parents, school personnel, and central office staff to support student progress and comply with Louisiana education laws. Operate audio-visual equipment and other classroom tools in a climate-controlled setting, occasionally working outside under extreme conditions. Assist in evaluation processes and participate in faculty meetings to contribute to quality education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Must be able to effectively communicate English both orally and in writing
- Must be able to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Must be able to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Must keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to comply with state and parish regulations
- Must be able to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Must be able to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
- Must be able to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Must be able to operate classroom equipment
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds
