Job Summary
Plan and implement daily instruction for first-grade students using varied techniques and developmental practices. Maintain accurate records of attendance, health data, and student progress while developing weekly lesson plans. Manage the classroom environment by keeping it safe, attractive, and properly stocked with equipment. Communicate regularly with parents, school personnel, and substitutes to support student growth and address individual needs. Adhere to Louisiana laws and Jefferson Parish Public Schools curriculum standards.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Able to effectively communicate English both orally and in writing
- Ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Ability to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds
- Must be able to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Must be able to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to comply with state and parish regulations
- Must be able to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Must be able to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
