Job Summary
K-5 Literacy Coach will coordinate the reading program, provide ongoing job-embedded professional learning through coaching cycles, and engage educators through goal setting, observation, modeling, co-teaching, feedback, reflection, and action planning to strengthen literacy instruction. The role includes developing content knowledge in literacy theory and the Science of Reading, designing and facilitating professional learning sessions, coordinating and overseeing diagnostic assessments (Acadience Reading, NWEA MAP), analyzing literacy data to inform instructional adjustments, aligning coaching work with the School Improvement Plan and statewide literacy goals, leading the school literacy committee and MTSS teams in developing IRPs, maintaining coaching records, ensuring alignment with state standards, modeling professional/ethical standards per UP PAC standards, and maintaining confidentiality of student information. The K-5 Literacy Coach is not an administrator and does not supervise employees; other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Utah Professional Educator License in Elementary; Early Childhood Education; or Special Education (K-12)
- Completion of LETRS training or equivalent
- Professional Instructional Coaching endorsement or willingness to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Master's degree or higher in education or related field preferred
- Three (3) or more years of successful experience as an elementary-level classroom teacher; five (5) years preferred
