Job Summary
Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of all assigned students through diverse instructional techniques and appropriate developmental practices. Plan and prepare weekly lessons, maintain accurate records including attendance and health files, and implement proper classroom management strategies. Keep the classroom attractive and safe, reporting any unsafe conditions immediately. Collect monies for lunch and activities, supply substitutes with adequate plans, and cooperate with school-based and central office personnel. Continually evaluate student progress, encourage parent involvement, and participate in faculty meetings and inservice training. Conforms to Louisiana laws regarding student safety and welfare while assisting in the development of quality education. Work 183 days in a climate-controlled school setting, adhering to bargaining unit agreements and reporting regularly and punctually to assigned locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Eligible for a Practitioner's License as confirmed by a local university
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Ability to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Ability to operate classroom equipment
- Ability to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Ability to keep accurate, up-to-date written and verbal instructions
- Ability to comply with state and parish regulations
- Ability to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
- Ability to lift 10 pounds
