Job Summary
Supervise and support the implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies to increase student achievement while defining or redefining curriculum content for each course. Use data to improve student achievement and collaborate with the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction to evaluate state-adopted textbooks and select district assessments. Plan and conduct workshops, conferences, and teacher training institutes to introduce new methods and procedures that improve instruction quality. Allocate assigned funds throughout the year, assist in securing additional funding through grants, and facilitate two-way communication regarding district programs and policies impacting student success. Serve on district committees and task forces pertaining to curriculum and instruction while staying abreast of current research through professional organizations and conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in content area
- ESL Supplement
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a curriculum area

- Bilingual
- Secondary and elementary experience
- Specific knowledge of the assigned content area
- General knowledge of all elementary and secondary curriculum areas
- Knowledge in the selection, training, and supervision of personnel
- Ability to plan and conduct staff development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
- Knowledge of State and district content standards and knowledge of district school improvement initiatives, including content standards, effective instruction, and assessment practices
- Skills in collaboration, curriculum development, and the use of data to improve student success
- Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress
- Ability to coordinate district functions
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data
- Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
