Job Summary
Organize athletes and teach sport fundamentals while training them to compete as a team and individually. Develop clear goals for players throughout tryouts and the season, and maintain open communication with scholars, parents, and the Athletic Director. Model best practices and skills necessary to succeed, supporting scholar academic expectations and enforcing the scholar-athlete code of conduct. Create a safe environment for athletes while connecting athletic experiences with life lessons and promoting teamwork among coaches and players. Build rapport with the Grand Rapids community and administration.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Clear a criminal background check
- Playing experience at the high school or college level
- Coaching experience
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Certificate of completion for online concussion training course from either the Centers for Disease Control or the National Federation of State High School Associations
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to talk and hear in a quiet or noisy environment
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Close vision

- Ability to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate
