Job Summary
Instruct, coach, and support student-athletes in fundamental wrestling skills, strategies, and physical training while executing practice plans and game-day strategies. Lead the team by modeling ethical values, sportsmanship, and self-discipline, providing consistent feedback on performance and personal growth. Ensure full compliance with Ohio School Law, OHSAA bylaws, and district policies regarding eligibility, recruitment, and safety. Maintain accurate records for physical exams, medical forms, and equipment inventories while supervising student-athletes at all times, including in locker rooms, on buses, and during events. Communicate professionally with students, parents, and administration to promote the program and support district-wide initiatives. Model the Portrait of an Educator by mentoring students toward academic achievement and character development.
Required Qualifications
- Pupil Activity Permit (PAP)
- Fundamentals of Coaching
- Concussion Training
- Lindsay's Law
- CPR/First Aid
- Current BCI/FBI background check
- Completed digital onboarding forms
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of OHSAA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Ohio School Law
- Knowledge of adolescent development and positive behavioral reinforcement
- Knowledge of emergency safety protocols and injury prevention
- Effective communication and interpersonal relations
- Organization and time management
- Conflict resolution and situational problem-solving
- Ability to demonstrate and explain athletic techniques clearly
- Ability to manage groups of students effectively
- Ability to maintain composure and professional conduct under high-pressure competitive environments
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion
- Ability to interact with unruly children
Desired Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the interscholastic, collegiate, or youth level
- Proven ability to motivate student-athletes and maintain positive community relations
- Knowledge of district-specific athletic policies
