Job Summary
Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity JV boys basketball team while supervising assistant coaches and managing off-season strength and conditioning programs. Monitor student athletes' academic performance, ensure eligibility compliance with VHSL rules, and coordinate tryouts, recruiting, and postseason supervision. Lead fundraising activities, maintain equipment inventory, and communicate with parents, coaches, and the community to build program support. Present at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen games as possible, while adhering to the athletic season schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in current CPR and First Aid training
- Completion of VHSL Coaches Education requirements
- Proficiency in public speaking and written communication
- Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their concerns
- Able to handle responsibility
- Able to work independently
- Able to maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, administration, co-workers and community agencies
- Travel with students, coaches, trainers, and teams on athletic related trips
- Vocal communication
- Hearing
- Visual acuity
- Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices
- Contact with athletic coaches, athletic trainers, administration, staff, and parents
- Contact with medical professionals
- Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person
