Job Summary
Fulfill all duties as directed by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and the United States Department of Justice, including adherence to policies in accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act, Texas Family Code, and relevant departmental policies. Key responsibilities include providing crisis management, monitoring grievances, assessing risks, maintaining professional behavior, and assisting probation officers with transportation and resource referrals. Physical stamina is required to handle potentially hostile environments, and various certifications must be obtained post-employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have no disqualifying criminal history
- Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Never have had any type of certification revoked by TJJD
- Complete training required by TAC and pass certification exam after employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
- Requires Juvenile Supervision Officer Certification and other certifications after employment
Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Criminal history as described in §344.410(a) may disqualify
- Certification must not have been revoked by TJJD
