Job Summary
Juvenile Probation Officer in Orlando, FL responsible for providing social services to assist in rehabilitation of juvenile law offenders in custody or on probation or parole. Performs case management, referrals, recommendations, and assessments; initiates contact with youth, family, victims, and law enforcement; conducts home and school visits; reviews collateral information; conducts risk/needs screenings and assessments; formulates case management strategies; makes service referrals and supervision recommendations; prepares reports and participates in court hearings; maintains records in JJIS; collaborates with community resources; must be able to work non-traditional hours and travel within the community as needed. Minimum qualifications include four years of experience with adolescents in criminal justice, social services, or education and a valid driver’s license; preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or associate degree and Florida Juvenile Probation Officer certification; requires CPR/First Aid and must comply with background checks and drug screening; position located in Orlando, Florida.
Required Qualifications
- Four years of experience working directly with adolescents in one or more of the following fields: criminal justice, social services, or education.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Be a high school graduate or its equivalent as determined by the department.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications must be maintained throughout employment, per special notes.
- This position may require non-traditional hours, including weekend and evening hours when needed.
- All prospective candidates will be subject to sex offender checks, criminal background checks (state, local and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions.
