Job Summary
Preside over juvenile and family division cases including Juvenile Paternity, Domestic Relations, Adoptions, Guardianships, Protection Orders, Grandparent Visitation, and related civil matters. May conduct evidentiary hearings or bench trials; take affidavits/depositions, issue subpoenas, compel attendance, punish contempt, issue warrants, set bail, and enforce court rules. Report findings, verify certificates, review memoranda/files, and perform duties as allowed by law. Serve as judge pro tempore or special judge as required and participate in a 7-day, 24-hour on-call rotation for emergencies. Supervises and manages court staff. Requires Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and admission to practice in Indiana; strong knowledge of state court decisions, procedures, and Indiana Code; ability to supervise staff; pre-employment background check and drug screen. Location: Elkhart County Judicial Center, Goshen, Indiana.

- Thorough knowledge of Indiana Supreme/Appellate Court decisions, Indiana Rules of Trial Procedure, and Indiana Rules of Evidence
- Ability to read/interpret Indiana Code and related legal documents
