Job Summary
Draft and e-file pre-trial documents, arrange service on defendants, and produce trial binders for attorneys. Merge trial documents, provide copies of witness lists and exhibits, and obtain certified copies needed for trial exhibits. Send answers to clients, follow up with the court on trial requests, and notify clients of trial dates. Prepare witness subpoenas, ensure pre-trial motions and briefs are filed, and place all items in the trial file. Provide support for jury trials and long bench trials requiring additional file organization. Full-time, 40 hours/week, Downtown Los Angeles.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a legal assistant and/or paralegal
- Preparation of jury trial documents, including jury instructions, exhibit lists, witness lists, and trial binders
- E-filing experience
- Ability to work with people of all educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds who may have differing communication abilities
- Knowledge of local county court rules and procedures
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to handle a high volume of workload
- Strong communication skills
- High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task
- Versatile computer skills
- Position is full-time at 40 hours/week
- Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday
- The primary responsibilities of this position require that the work be performed at the office full-time
- We are not considering remote candidates at this time
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ProLaw and LexisNexis
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate or equivalent
