Junior Underwriter (Flood Insurance)

Job Summary
Underwrite new submissions to ensure new policies are correct per guidelines, and process endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and billing issues to complete policy issuance. Review applications, photographs, elevation certificates, and third-party resources to accurately underwrite policies, while providing customer service to agents via phone, chat, and email to meet production KPIs. Deescalate difficult situations to bring them to complete resolution. Participate in daily huddles, team meetings, and training opportunities. This role supports Write Your Own (WYO) insurance companies and agents with direct access to the National Flood Insurance Program and private products.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic to intermediate technical knowledge of systems and procedures, with attention to detail
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be able to work remotely or be based in Kalispell
- Must be available for hybrid work (at least three days per week in local office or onsite with clients)
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to interact with team members and clients
Desired Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience
- Experience with underwriting methodologies and flood insurance practices
- Familiarity with organizational insurance procedures and policies
- Strong time management skills
